Our Story
Invented by a kid who knows cold ears.
In March of 2026, Whitaker Newton — a 9‑year‑old inventor from
Vermont — created the Steamy Beanie and presented it at the
Vermont State Invention Convention, where it won the
Entrepreneur Award. 🏆
The idea was simple and smart: take leftover wool scraps from
Johnson Woolen Mills, sew them into a small pouch sized for a hand
warmer, and add velcro so it sticks inside any hat or ski helmet. The result keeps
your ears warm on even the coldest Vermont days.
In June of 2026, Whitaker partnered with Gene Richards, Owner and CEO
of Johnson Woolen Mills, to manufacture the Steamy Beanie and sell it in their store
— and right here online.
